Mental Description:
Personality: She can hide her true feelings very well therefore you can never know what it is that Ateariya has boiling in the surface, but despite the signs she gives off, her silent nature keeps her quiet and nearly forsaken from the rest of the world. Being weak as far as brute strength goes Ateariya makes up for it with her intelligence and quick witted mind.
Clumsy can be another feature to add to her when it comes to simple tasks, but her mind structure doesn’t allow her to complete everyday chores; her thought process makes her over think the simple things because she needs to be active and solving complex puzzles. This however can be one of her major flaws, and often times you may see her fidget every so often in a still environment.
She’s able to contain a lot of pressure for the most part as it has been a natural habit to try and bear the stress of others on her shoulders, and she’s rather the type to go to and have a thorough discussion with, or just for a shoulder to cry on. Despite the fact rarely anyone ever listens to Ateariya, she is willing to listen to you and help you through whatever your struggle may be; which leads into her unwavering loyalty. Bound to be the follower of whoever is in charge, Ateariya will sacrifice everything for those she truly cares for, and will throw her life on the line even for a stranger until proven that they aren’t worthy of trust.
So for the most part Ateariya is friendly and a shy woman, but she has a bold side of longing for adventure and freedom. She is seen too much of a dreamer and often times this can get her in trouble, but when she gets the chance you’ll see her sketching or writing out scenes that flash through her mind endlessly. Ironically through all of this though, Ateariya is more of a pessimist than an optimistic individual. Still, through her eyes you can see the regret and sorrow pour itself into her heart as she attempts to strangle the corruption of depression in her mind; which that is of course why Ateariya usually has a saddened expression.
Basically, Ateariya is a mother like icon for many people with her own sense of pride that has long since been lost. Still she searches for her own strength, and she knows that one day when cornered she will act as a wild animal when trapped and lash out for her own survival; she’ll break free from the chains that shackle her to this death bound planet, and but break down in the process. Which, she understands that life isn’t a game nor is it kind; she sees it as cruel and unforgiving, but Ateariya has no reason to make the chaos more hectic than what it already is. She also doesn’t believe in one thing; Peace. This goes to show with her motto;
“You have lost if you win without loss, but you have won when you lost with blood and broken love.”
Bio: Ateariya came into the world as a ghetto girl in the Underground ,who grew up around illegal smugglers of drugs and mechanical pieces. You could guess just form that small bit of info that her life when young was pretty rough, but if you asked her, she’d simply say “I suppose so. Wasn't that bad.” Lies. Just more lies that she uses so others won’t see how weak she really is. Truth is when she was first born, she was placed out onto the streets not knowing her father or mother was, but was found covered in oil next to the dump of the city.
She was suffocating on the chemicals and oil had seeped into her throat, so at a very early age she already faced being cleared away from the planet. Fortune must have attached itself onto the young Ateariya, because in what would have been her final moments as an infant, she was picked up by a stranger and medically treated immediately. She lived after that of course, but it had caused massive brain damage for the first few years of her life. By age eight however, she regained what seemed to be a full recovery and was able to function like a normal person. Almost normal.
She begun to tamper in with some common day skills, and to find out, she had a natural knack for drawing and writing. She grew fond of these hobbies as they were the only thing to truly express her thoughts and feelings, but after a while there seemed to be nothing left for her to dream about; she had lived a life of a slum child and nothing seemed to be able to change that fate. She grew tired of these things and found herself plunging into minor depression, but as the years went on, the depression grew heavier in her heart. Several times she would think about suicide, but she was too scared to kill herself. The thought of leaving things behind was too much for her, and it was that same fear and curiosity that won over her mind and soon she found herself actually fighting for what she believed in. Ateariya was a bit of a brat up till age 10, only because she knew that anything too lady like wouldn’t be tolerated in the place she called home, but after a while she soon found that she would see the light in the end of her abyss soul.
As she lived with her parents still unaware as to whom her biological parents were, she started to grow fearful in the slums. Several times she was shoved into a corner by her ‘father’ and hidden when people would break into the small shack they called a home, and numerous of times she watched helplessly as her ‘mother’ was beat by thugs. Gangs were everywhere, and although experiences like this would usually make someone tougher, stronger in some sense, it only added to Ateariya’s fear and weakness. After turning 11, Ateariya had been caught in a firefight and was shot in the shoulder. It didn’t cause any massive damage to the young girl, but it did leave a nasty scar after she herself had surgically removed it without supervision of any sort. Luckily she didn’t grow an infection, but she did however live with a crippled arm for a few months before that healed. For a long time she went without school and when she was able to go to school, Alteariya was already 14 years old. Her knowledge for an uneducated teen was actually astonishing as she had exceeded most other kids her age and over. Because of this she was honored with an award stating her intellectual capabilities, and the Military wanted to use her as a scout or a mechanic…that didn’t work out good.
When Ateariya was in her first day of training, she had failed too many tests necessary to pass, and ultimately she was kicked out. She was labeled clumsy and carefree, and eventually was signed not to be a part of the Military, but when she met up with a General she spoke to him about being a type of messenger; thus began her reputation as a courier. Although her life may not be as exciting as a soldier’s, or as a scout by air or land, she has gone and done pretty interesting things. Because of her new life that held adventure, her fears had begun to die down, but she still locked herself inside her own personal prison. Seeing new things ended up opening that ‘dreamer’ part of herself, and Ateariya found herself back into her old habits of drawing and writing. Already she has published just a few books about her philosophy towards the war and the world around her beside that major conflict, and other ones just about characters going through struggles in life.
Of course with her thoughts always resorting to fantasy her books that didn’t deal with theories were all fiction, but seemed to be her only escape from reality.
Ateariya held no close friends, actually no friends in general, but seemed to manage herself just fine. During her traveling, she started to study the countries and the creatures in it, and could not find the reason for the hatred for the Grafts. Okay yes, they were humanoid, but wasn’t she, just a normal human, a creature to them for being different? She never really found reason to the sudden hate for these ‘abominations’, but she wouldn’t dare question someone about it. So staying in her studies about the ‘creatures’, Ateariya made note of what each had an advantage in, and found herself fond of the Voniker even more so than the Doberman Pincher they closely relate to. (Truth be told, she actually headed out alone and when she saw one sleeping, she hid there for a long time till she was done drawing the beast. But we can keep that a secret, yes?)
Other than that, Ateariya really doesn’t go into detail about her life in the ghetto, and asking her seems to get her a little skittish, so it’s best to avoid the topic.
Specialties: Operating a Scout walker. This was probably the only thing she was ever able to really accomplish while in training before she got kicked out. Besides that, she seems to have a good way with words that can easily persuade or charm someone, which is great for her negotiations, and being book smart might not go too far in a war, but it helps out every so often.
Occupation: Courier
Weaknesses/Fears:
- Reality: Yes, you may be asking, reality? Who fears what they live in? Well honestly, Ateariya isn’t one to be completely on the ‘sane’ side when it comes to the world despite her good intake on reality…it’s her knowledge of the world that scares her, because she knows what it is that can easily be her and everything else’s destruction.
- Gender: Gender is a weakness for Ateariya because men never take her seriously, and with her weak state of being, it’s hard to ever take the 21 year old seriously. Since she was little she had to grow up with being pushed around because of gender, but she isn’t going to do anything about it. She knows there isn’t anything she can do about it.
- Weapons: It’s not so much she’s afraid of weapons, it’s just more so of the fact that she doesn’t like to be near any operating weapons that she isn’t controlling because of a few incidents in her childhood. Lucky for her, being a courier she doesn’t have to deal too much with them…unless there are assassination attempts on her to try and snatch important documents she carries. Likes:
- Vonikers: She has an odd liking for Vonikers, and she actually prefers them over a Doberman Pincher. Often times she would space off and day dream about being able to get close to one without it lashing out at her for being normal human, -which it is said that is actually very rare even for an Evol like a Voniker- or without others trying to kill the poor thing. Seriously, she wrote it down in her notebook that it is a goal to at least pet a Voniker.
- Drawing/Writing: They are her only escape from fate’s cruel game, so it’s no surprise that she takes a liking to such things. There isn’t much else to say, but those two are really her passion. Alteariya never goes anywhere without a sketchbook or notebook to write.
- Nature: Nature of all sorts always tend to fascinate Alteariya, even the deserts of Shiradia. Her favorite terrain however is that of mountain ranges, which she is glad that Edrangeon has the luxury of being surrounded by them in the north.
Dislikes:
- Stereotypes: lteariya is usually a sensible woman, but that doesn’t mean she don’t get irritated with certain things. One thing would be stereotypes about females and the fact that they are all weak. Despite the fact she pretty much proves them right for her feebleness, she knows that not all woman are like that, and it is one of the few things to set her off. Fair warning, she may be nice but when she’s mad (which is rare) hell, she doesn’t mind hurting someone.
- Nobles: The rich always seem to bother Ateariya as well, but that can be traced back to her past. Most thin it is perhaps because she grew up in a ghetto and live was something you actually had to try and strive for, while the rich lay back in their comfort like royalty. She may not despise them, but at the same time she doesn’t enjoy being around too many rich folk nor does she like to hear about them. She could be offered millions of dollars, and Ateariya wouldn’t take it because it would be the easy way out of a struggle, and most likely, into a new one.
- Bullying: Being considered weak because she is a dreamer. This is probably her most hated thing. Ateariya understand that sometimes she can be a bit too spaced off in her own world at the worst of times, but to have that be the reason why she is weak isn’t the case. In her head, she believes it is ones dreams that make them strong, and to have something that they wish for being crushed by assholes who have nothing to do with that dream, it’s pretty devastating and pathetic to her.
