Mental Description:
Personality: Pythius seems aloof from the outside, his gaze always unfazed even when his stomach is in knots. Though amicable and sensible to his loved ones, there is this wall even between him and his friends and family. He tends to roam around on his own despite his need for warmth, love, and most importantly, entertainment. Pythius is overwhelmingly curious, with the need to know everything, and though it’s hard to capture his attention, when it happens, he can get frighteningly clingy and possessive (obsessive even).
He is still somewhat of a child because his parents and siblings babied him (him being the youngest), yet he thinks he is old enough to be involved in the adult world. Pythius is vain, holding elegance and beauty above many things. He hates it when he’s ‘too young’ or when he’s being left out of things (again, curiosity), and he’s usually bitter and wrongfully spiteful when he doesn’t get what he wants. When he really wants something, then to him, the ends justify the means and he’s willing to manipulate others.
Bio: Pythius is the youngest of a family of three children, and the first one to succeed in becoming a Graft. His older twin siblings, Lynda and Chua, have both failed the medical examinations much to his parents’ dismay. Due to this, his parents are very proud of him and he is spoiled rotten by the whole family. Pythius is very in sync with his snake DNA, which brought him honor while in Ashomal, but he found out that not everyone liked Grafts in the caves of Tyquern.
Ashomal was the place of his first kill.
When he was younger, he had fallen in love with a fair Ashomal native girl. She, however, was already betroth and did not appreciate his advances as seductive or kind as he was. Still young and madly in love, Pythius refused to believe her refusal and continued stalking her until the day he saw her and her promised one… doing rather explicit things.
In a rage, his fangs came out and when he came to his senses, the poisoned body of a man laid at his feet. The woman ran away, and though Pythius doesn’t know it, she has drowned herself the days following the hasty Vaughan family departure from Ashomal. Thanks to Ashomal, he has knowledge in the mechanics though does not know how to wield one of the weapons himself (he can identify them and he can repair some of the common ones though).
Specialties: Pythius is good with music. He has a very good intuition and he learns very rapidly (since he has learned to learn by himself). He is very sensible to odor, and even more, to movement thanks to his forked tongue (when transmits the information to his brain). Pythius has a good sense of orientation in dark areas, and feels at home within the lonely caves. The Inland Taipan DNA in his blood allows him agile movement, and a speed and grace above normal. This elegant air around him helps him satisfy his curiosity because then he can extract information out of people with seduction.
Seemingly indifferent, it’s hard to tell when (or even whether, since he has tendencies to flee battle rather than fight) Pythius is going to strike. When he does though, it means he has been provoked sufficiently and he will attack ruthlessly. His venomous fangs will bring almost certain death if there isn’t an antidote administered right after. Though his poison is potent enough for him to hold on tight (preventing further injuries), Pythius tends to bite multiple times to assure himself that his prey is dead.
Occupation: While the rest of his family has a great merchant sense, Pythius is a terrible thrifty shopper and is incapable of selling things because he gets easily bored while waiting at the table. He merely helps around, and delivers things to people or do odd errands (which he finds very amusing and it sates his curiosity well). His family isn’t too rich, so he isn’t educated at all. Most of his free time (he has a lot of that), he sits around old travelers to learn new things.
Weaknesses/Fears:
- Cowardice: For one, Pythius is a coward. He will leave people behind. He’s not too keen on fighting and will run away from a fight or reality. Between fight and flight, the latter option is preferable. The guy prefers using underhand but safe methods, to blatantly blunt ones. He picks his words, concentrating on the other’s reactions to ‘wing it’, though this behavior can make him seem superficial to those who observe him closely enough. He notices that they notice though, and this makes him even more awkward (Pythius is drawn to warmth and attention after all.)
- Education: Also, Pythius isn’t too educated. He has to learn things on his own because his parents aren’t intellectuals either. He doesn’t know how to read or write, leaving him to focus on other means to gather knowledge (and sometimes, this knowledge will lead him straight to danger and lack of sleep). Though literacy may be a simple thing, his lack of education also symbolizes his lack of manners. He can have all the instinctive persuasion in the world, but he still does weird things like stare at something for a long period of time and has no idea about personal space.
- Graft: Another thing: though his snake DNA has its benefits, it has its flaws too. For example, his joints aren’t too strong. He gets sleepy in very hot weather and/or very cold weather, leaving him wide open for attack. He has a thing for music too, and it can be used as a tool to keep him distracted or even to enchant him. The animal blood makes him reluctant to trust in humans, and picks solitude instead, even if it’s fatal for his mental growth. Mixed emotions and seasonal hormones cause him frustration and confusion: a thing many adults call “teenage angst”. This makes him moody at times, though he does feel slightly bad about it afterwards (but hates giving out earnest apologizes).
Likes:
- Knowledge: He likes the complexity of machinery though he doesn’t know how to use them, and he likes spoken words, like music (which pleases him and relaxes him) or like when someone just talks to him. Like a sponge, he absorbs all the things they say even when it’s pretty useless. It makes him look like a good listener, but in reality, he’s just happy to suck in what they say. It fills his head up in a pleasant way.
- Water: He also likes bathing during noon since it cools him down while the sun warms him up. His guard is usually lowest at times like these, and he knows it but can’t help but be vulnerable as soon as his toes touch the wonderful water. Furthermore, Pythius likes rain. He doesn’t like getting wet (it’s cold), but he loves the concept and the slickness of droplets on his fingers. Storms comfort him.
- Attention: Plus, Pythius loves attention even when he’s wary of people. It feeds his vanity and his need for warmth. He will be cold to outsiders (people he doesn’t trust), but will secretly be happy to know that they want him there. There isn’t any need to please the other person, but to satisfy his own need for them to need him.
Dislikes:
- Boredom: The thing that Pyth despises the most is monotone. He needs stimulation, and his curiosity is there to find just that.
- ‘Kid’/’Child’: He loathes being called a ‘kid’, since that’s what his family calls him. When anyone calls him such (apart from his family), he tends to put them right onto his black list no matter what. It may seem like a minor thing, but to Pyth, it’s pretty major and very irritating.
- Denial: Despite the latter dislike, he also really hates when he doesn’t get what he wants. This leads to quick-passing but furious fits of rage, though the memory of his first kill is what reminds him to not go overboard. After his tantrums, Pythius goes into a state where he ignores and avoids the other person, yet gets terribly annoyed if they don’t come and find him (he hates being ignored, even if it’s what he ‘wants’)…. and all this until they present with something interesting and he forgets his hate.
