- Grafts -
Grafts are simply normal people who have a certain type of animal DNA intertwined with their own. They receive this DNA graft after they are conceived in their mother's womb but before being born, making them already different from normal humans when they enter the world. The parents of the unborn child has to bring the child to Keramec, where they will be considered along with many other children for the grafting since the service is ultimately free. Only a few will be chosen however, and many of the wealthy parents have bribed the scientists to allow their child to have a higher chance of being grafted.
If a child is chosen, the mother and father will descend into the heart of Keramec, the hill it is situated on, where all the experiments are held. The scientists there will analyze certain traits of the child and if he/she is healthy enough for the process since it does mutate their bodies and unexpected results may occur with weaker children. A certain strand or cluster of similar strands of DNA is then injected into the developing body of the child and there, the animistic traits will also develop along with the human traits producing a Graft.

Avians

Avian Grafts are most known for their wings, as they tend to draw attention no matter where they are. Avian Grafts can usually be identified by fluffy or feathery hair, large sharp eyes, wings, patches of feathers along their bodies, and elongated and sharpened nails.
These Grafts are extremely useful, in that they are the most free of the Grafts, able to travel up and away to where ever they choose. Their bones are mostly hollow and their lungs are engineered to take in more oxygen from the air, to help with higher altitudes. Since they have such fragile bodies, Avian Grafts are extremely susceptible to injuries such as breaking their bones and muscles being torn.
In addition, Avian Grafts tend to use three times the energy than Predatory Mammal Grafts, and therefor must eat more food in order to stay strong. To counteract this, the Draceleonic government has created a type of pill to help keep Avians energized though they will experience a period of sluggishness and being tired afterwards. All known Avians are extremely claustrophobic and cannot bear complete darkness.
Types:
- Singers: Singer Avians are known for their beautiful voices and being very cheery and jumpy, making them extremely impatient. These types of Avians have enhanced voiceboxes, allowing them to chirp and sing just like songbirds. Singers are used to relay information during scouting and are often very small, allowing them to flit by unnoticed on their thin wings. Most of the male Singers have a small crest which grows naturally with their hair and beautiful plumage, while the females have none to speak of and usually have drab brown coats. In most cases, these Grafts have the wings and sound box relating to a certain type of song bird, allowing them to sing the particular birds' special melody and often improvising on it as well, which makes them excellent musicians and composers.
- Predator Avians: These types of Avians are the opposite of Singers; they are usually calm, quiet, analytical, and vicious. Most Predator Avians are those with elongated nails and wings of birds such as falcons, hawks, or vultures. They have the universal characteristics of having hooked noses and extremely large eyes, their ears also sometimes slanted back and pointed while having extremely large aerodynamic wings. They are are quick and merciless fliers, usually known for their extremely sharp, penetrating stares. Predator Avians are usually slow to trust others, but a few cases have shown otherwise.

Mammalians (Land-Bound)

Mammalian Grafts are definitely the most diverse of all the Grafts, as there are multitudes of animals that these Grafts could be.These also include being grafted with water mammals as well, though they are so rare and less useful than Aquarians that there are almost none in existence. Just as how these animals interact in the wild, most predatory Mammalians and herbivores do not interact with each other, or on a very minimum basis, their animalistic instincts urging them to stay clear of other types of Mammalians.
All kinds of traits and characteristics are found in Mammalians; the most common characteristics are animal ears, tails, claws, or patches of fur or thick hair, sometimes even having the same type of eyes as the grafted animal DNA or being able to emit the specific types of sounds that the animal possesses . However, as previously mentioned, these Grafts could have other characteristics as well, such as sharpened canines, antlers, spots, stripes, etc. For example, the Scout Graft shown to the left is obviously a Deer Graft. This is shown by her antlers, ears, and thick hair. Since there are so many different Mammalians, the different strengths and weaknesses possessed by each type is unique and diverse in their own ways, usually being the same as the animal they are grafted with.
Types:
- Sniffers: Sniffer Mammalians are those types that have little to no offensive abilities. This includes rabbit, deer, squirrel, and the extremely rare bat Grafts. The defining characteristics of these animals are noticeable on the Grafts, such as long rabbit ears for the rabbit Grafts and a long hairless tail for mice Grafts.These Grafts are usually quite fast and their evasive abilities are top notch, allowing them escape unscathed from dangerous situations. However, if they are trapped or caught, they have almost no way to fight. Thus, they are mainly land scouts, although some actually manage to sabotage the occasional Edrangic camp or Stormwalker.
- Herbivores: Extremely strong with massive amounts of endurance, Herbivore Grafts are the powerhouse of the Draceleon Forces. The animals grafted include horse, ox, goat, bison and most large four-legged hooved creatures. They are noticeable by the horns that many of the Herbivore animals have and the shaggy thick coats of fur, also usually long faces that gives them a gentle and melancholy feel. Even though they may be very strong, enough to lift objects that would normally require three people to carry, these Grafts are not fighting types usually being porters or laborers behind the lines since their slow and mild natures are not suited for fighting. They are very timid when it comes to exchanging blows, but if they were provoked enough to become enraged, their fury would match one of the Predator Grafts.
- Predator Mammalians: Predator Mammalian Grafts are those that are able to inflict damage on enemies, often being the majority of the Mammalians in battle. These Grafts are usually a bit slower than the Sniffers, but they are much stronger, their muscles a combination of human delicacy and the predator's strength. Some of these Grafts include lions, cats, dogs and many others. Usually a person has to take a good look at one of these Grafts in order to figure out what animal they are since many of the different characteristics of the predatory types of animals are very alike. These Grafts require great amount of food to enable them to fight, consuming great heaps of any type of food possible. Reptilians

Reptilian Grafts are well known for their cunning fighting abilities and seductive tactics. They are quick and agile, striking blows with good precision and weaving their way past opponents after having lured their enemies into venerable positions which allows them to attack with ease. They are close range fighters, preferring to go head-to-head with attackers or more often, weave around them before striking a fatal blow.
They can be usually be identified by patches of scales on various places of their bodies, forked tongues, claws, and unusual eyes which usually have double eyelids. These double eyelids allow the Reptilians to sleep with their main eyelids open, making many people suspicious and afraid of these Grafts. Due to their Reptilian and Human DNA, these Grafts can only grow hair on their heads and in very few numbers, making many male Reptilians just shave it all of since it only gets in the way. Most female Reptilian Grafts however, keep their hair very short. These Grafts are also cold blooded; without proper clothing or armor in cold weather, their speed will fall greatly and they can easily freeze to death in temperatures where other people and Grafts may be still fine. They work best in warmer types of climates and having the universal love of bathing in the midday sun.
Types:
- Snakes: Snake Grafts are easily the most feared of the Reptilians. They are the quickest and most flexible of them all, with some of these Grafts even developing venomous bites. Despite their reputations, Snake Grafts are just as vulnerable, if not more, as the other Reptilian Grafts; their body joints are much more loose and therefor can pop out of place, immobilizing a Snake Graft for several moments. These Grafts cannot develop claws, and the venomous Grafts almost always have slit pupils. Some venomous Snake Grafts have extremely sharp fangs that slide in and out of slits in the top of their mouths and some can spit highly potent venom.
- Lizards: Lizard Grafts are the most common of the Reptilians. Easily recognizible for their dark, beady eyes and noticeable claws, Lizards aren't nearly as fast as Snakes are. They are extremely intelligent and use this intelligence to their advantage. A rare few of the Lizard grafts are adept at camoflauge, making them wonderful assassins. They are also known to develop hard spines on their backs, fore arms, or ears, giving them a natural weapon. Though these spines are as strong as the machinery used by the Edrangians, the breaking of these spines can be painful. There are a few Lizards however, who are unlike the rest, have extremely smooth skin and sticky feet and hands which allows them climb walls and ceilings with ease though they lack any type of spikes and are extremely susceptible to injuries.
- Turtles: Although Turtle Grafts are rare in the Reptilians, they are highly respected. Despite having the slowest movements and the slowest recovery timing, Turtle Grafts are extremely durable and strong, able to live up to 130 years old due to their turtle DNA. Turtle Grafts are recognizeable for their dark, beady eyes, and their slight bulkiness. Turtle Grafts have extremely strong plates of bone right under their skin in their arms, legs, back, shoulders, and chest. These plates are form fitting, slightly noticeable, and are able to take several rounds of long distance Edrangic cannonfire. It is said that being the parent of a Turtle Graft will bring that family good luck.

Aquarians

Aquarian Grafts are few and extremely rare. They are usually very beautiful, but they are considered to be the weaker of the Grafts, used mostly in oceanic warfare when needed. Aquarians are easily identifiable by several traits, which include shining scales, fins, tentacles, or tails, and, perhaps most alarmingly, gills. Aquarians that have formed fish tails instead of legs are permanently bound to water, as they cannot walk on land, and thus have garnered the tales of them being mermaids.
All Aquarians are able to breathe underwater and on land, but not for an extreme amount of time can they inhale water since their lungs and gills are only developed so far as to allow them to intake a limited amount of oxygen from the surrounding water.
Since they still have the same brain mass and therefore intelligence as a normal human would which requires large amounts of oxygen to be used, Aquarians must return back to air within an hour of being submerged or else risk having their bodies shut down upon them and send them into unconciousness, which often results in drowning and death.
These Grafts are all grouped together, as most of them cannot leave water for long periods of time since their skin will dry out from the lack of moisture. They are easily dehydrated and will die within a day without water, which causes them to be able to only survive near bodies of water and to always drink water often.
